Where Does Our Airport Lounge Access Data Come From?

We gather airport lounge access information from multiple sources, including banks, card networks, lounge operators, social media channels, and traveller reports. Each source helps us verify credit and debit card eligibility, complimentary visit limits, spending requirements, and lounge details before publishing or updating information on LoungeInsider.

  • Banks

We collect and verify lounge access information from official bank websites, lounge benefit pages, Most Important Terms and Conditions (MITC), credit and debit card benefit guides, and other publicly available bank documents. These sources help verify lounge eligibility, visit limits, spending requirements, and card-specific access conditions.

  • Card networks

We review lounge access programmes published by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and RuPay. These sources help us identify participating airport lounges and verify applicable card eligibility and access conditions.

  • Lounge operators

We review information published by airport lounge operators to verify accepted credit and debit cards, lounge locations, operating hours, terminal details, available facilities, and entry requirements. This helps us keep lounge information accurate and up to date for travellers checking their card eligibility on LoungeInsider.

  • Traveller reports

We consider reports from travellers who have successfully accessed airport lounges or been denied entry using their credit or debit cards. These experiences help us identify discrepancies in lounge access information, card eligibility criteria, spending requirements, and entry policies. Before making any changes to lounge listing, we cross check reported issues against available information from banks, card networks, and lounge operators to maintain accurate and reliable information on LoungeInsider.

  • Social media and online communities

We monitor official bank and airport lounge social media accounts, along with Reddit discussions and credit card communities, to identify the latest updates on airport lounge access, participating lounges, eligibility criteria, and traveller experiences. Community shared information helps us spot potential changes and discrepancies, which are then cross checked with official sources wherever possible before being reflected on LoungeInsider.

How We Verify Credit and Debit Card Lounge Access

Lounge access benefits can vary across credit and debit cards, even when they are issued by the same bank. Eligibility may depend on the exact card variant, participating lounge, complimentary visit limits, spending requirements, and other access conditions. We manually review and verify information from multiple sources, cross check discrepancies, and maintain separate records for each card and lounge rather than relying solely on published bank lists.

  1. Verify and update lounge details We verify lounge names, airport locations, terminals, and access categories. We also identify outdated lounge names, changes in lounge operators, mergers, and rebranding that may not yet be reflected in bank documents or other sources. Wherever necessary, we manually correct and standardise these details to match the current lounge information.
  2. Check the exact card variant We identify the specific credit or debit card rather than relying on the bank name alone. Cards issued by the same bank, including variants with similar names, can have different airport lounge access benefits and eligibility conditions.
  3. Record lounge access conditions We document complimentary lounge visit limits, such as two visits per quarter, spending requirements, such as ₹75,000 spent in the previous quarter, and other applicable eligibility conditions. We also note any restrictions that may affect access to a particular lounge.
  4. Manually verify and publish the information We manually review collected data, cross check details across available sources, and correct inconsistencies wherever identified. Once reviewed, we add the information to the relevant airport, lounge, and card pages on LoungeInsider. This allows travellers to check airport lounge access eligibility by searching for an airport, a specific lounge, or their credit or debit card.

What Does the Last Verified Date Mean?

The Last Verified date indicates when we last reviewed and verified the lounge access benefits of a specific credit or debit card at a particular airport. This includes checking lounge eligibility, participating lounge names, complimentary visit limits, spending requirements, and other applicable access conditions.

For example, when a bank changes the lounge access benefits of a card or updates its list of participating lounges, we review the affected card and airport combination, cross check available information, and make the necessary corrections. This date helps you understand when the card's lounge access information for that airport was last verified by the LoungeInsider team.

How We Rank Credit and Debit Cards for Lounge Access

We rank credit and debit cards based on the number of airport lounges where they offer complimentary access. Credit cards and debit cards are evaluated separately, ensuring that each category has its own ranking.

  • Number of accessible lounges The primary ranking factor is the number of airport lounges at a particular airport where a card offers complimentary access. Cards offering access to the same number of lounges receive the same rank.
  • Annual fee When two cards offer access to the same number of lounges, the card with the lower annual fee is listed higher.
  • Cards from the same bank We also display the number of credit and debit cards issued by the same bank that offer complimentary lounge access at that airport.

Banks, card networks, and lounge operators cannot pay to have a card listed or influence its ranking. All cards are evaluated using the same published ranking criteria.

Credit Card Fees, Rewards and Other Benefits

We publish card-related information, including joining fees, annual fees, annual fee waivers, foreign exchange markups, reward rates, milestone benefits, and other features of credit and debit cards. We collect these details from official bank websites, card benefit guides, terms and conditions, and other publicly available documents.

Banks may revise card fees, rewards, benefits, and promotional offers from time to time. We recommend checking the latest terms and conditions on your bank's official website before applying for a credit or debit card.

Why Can a Lounge Refuse Your Credit or Debit Card?

Having an eligible credit or debit card does not guarantee entry on every visit. Lounge access is subject to your card's eligibility conditions, available visit limits, and the lounge's entry policies. Even if your card appears on the lounge's eligibility list, access may be declined for several reasons:

  • Complimentary visits exhaustedYou have already used the complimentary lounge visits available under your card's quarterly, monthly, or annual allowance.
  • Spending requirement not met Your card has a minimum spending requirement, and you have not met the required spending threshold within the specified period.
  • Lounge capacity or operational restrictions The lounge is full, temporarily closed, undergoing maintenance, or unable to accept additional guests due to operational restrictions.
  • Recent changes to lounge access rules Your bank or card network has recently changed its lounge access programme, participating lounge list, or eligibility conditions. The updated information may not yet be reflected in all published listings.
  • Card or payment verification issuesYour card may not be recognised by the lounge's access system, the eligibility verification may fail, or the required validation transaction may not be completed successfully.
  • Additional entry conditions The lounge may have specific entry requirements related to departure terminals, boarding passes, travel class, guest access, or other applicable restrictions.

If you are unsure about your lounge access eligibility, contact your bank using the customer care number on the back of your card before travelling. You can also check the latest card benefits and participating lounge list through your bank's official channels.
